The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned HR/OD leader who wants to help people harness their own power to achieve a feminist, just, green transition in the 45 countries where ActionAid works.

This role crystalizes ActionAid International’s commitment to put people at the centre of its recently implemented organisational structure. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other functional heads and staff across the Global Secretariat (GS) to instill a new culture and ways of working – one that is more collaborative, people-oriented, and that is true to our values and principles including Feminist Leadership. This role will lead the strategic changes in the HR function and to unpack the organisation’s plans into impactful HR initiatives to ensure best class HR operation for the organisation.

Who we’re looking for:

The successful candidate should hold an advanced or post graduate degree in Human Resources Management or Organisational Development Management with at least 5 years’ experience in leading an HR/OD function at a global or international level with a strong overall knowledge and understanding of the core HROD discipline. You should have experience in successfully effecting and managing organisational development and change, including implementing new structures. You should have proven ability to motivate and inspire staff through difficult periods of change. You should have a proven track record of reliable delivery of organisational and strategic objectives.

You should have a proven track record of building a culture of trust, openness, and accountability for performance; and proven ability to build high performing and multi-located teams through a commitment to delegation and empowerment. The role requires an individual with the ability to deal with conflict and to manage difficult decisions and conversations. It is also necessary to have a personal resilience to work under pressure.
