Digital Safety Consultant At Synergy for Justice


Synergy for Justice is seeking the services of a bilingual (Arabic and English) IT Safety Consultant to conduct a digital safety assessment of its local partner organization in Turkey, provide a training on digital safety for its staff members, and prepare digital safety policies and procedures based on the needs identified in the assessment. The training should be completed in Arabic and the assessment and policies in English. It is preferable that the consultant is based in Turkey to allow travel to meet with the partner to conduct the assessment and complete the training. The period of work is expected to be from March to April 2022.

Roles and responsibilities:

  1. Conduct an assessment of partner digital safety and security (either in person or remotely). This is to include an assessment of current practices, policies and communication means.
  2. Train partner staff on digital security for online and offline usage, including but not necessarily limited to data collection, consent, data storage information sharing and digital communication (either in person or remotely or combination of both)
  3. Prepare and lead a training for staff that will focus on identifying and mitigating digital threats that they may face and that can impact them both personally and professionally in Arabic language.
  4. Provide recommendations to strengthen partners’ digital security and reduce risks.
  5. Collaborate and communicate with Synergy for Justice on regular basis

Deliverables:

  1. Assessment of partner organization’s digital security and recommendations for improvement.
  2. Digital security training completed in Arabic.
  3. IT Safety Policy including in detail guidance, or with a separate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accompanying the policy

Requirements:

  • Previous experience developing IT safety policies and SOPs for non-profit organizations.
  • Previous experience conducting digital safety assessment in human rights and humanitarian settings.
  • Demonstrated experience working on similar digital safety policies in the Syrian contexts
  • Ability to provide training in Arabic is required.
  • Understanding of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) related to data security and storage**
