Compliance & Assurance officer At Welthungerhilfe


Overall Department Management:
The Compliance Officer will ensure that Annual Compliance Plans are appropriate for the context and management requirements. H/She will work with HoPs/Heads of Departments providing timely advice on donor, Welthungerhilfe and local statutory regulations giving feedback on the effectiveness of the internal controls in place to ensure adherence to those regulations.
• Prepare and share the local compliance risk map with the Country Director and SMT
• Develop and continually follow up on annual compliance review plans covering all areas of risk which includes working with HoP/Heads of Departments to analyze the potential risk in their activities, set monitoring standards and follow up to close the gap areas in the system.
• The review plans should outline specific functions/tasks including tasks/actions that may be necessary to be conducted/completed by other departments for WHH to be a compliant organization.
• Ensure that all responsibilities of the Compliance Department are fulfilled in a timely and effective manner, making best use of WHH’s resources, and ultimately ensuring compliance with WHH procedures/policies

Advice and Capacity Building
• Oversee the development and roll out of in-country training materials in relation to Corporate Compliance and ensure that the materials are relevant to the context.
• In conjunction with SMT and relevant focal points at HQ, develop an annual training plan that incorporates WHH Corporate Compliance rules/policies training for local staff.

Assurance
• Establish and maintain robust system of Corporate Compliance documentation and controls and propose improvements as necessary.
• Lead physical inspection visits and due diligence checks for vendors, contractors, traders as required.

Sensitive Complaints Management
• Establish and ensure adherence to SOP for handling Sensitive complaints and investigations. This includes agreeing on appropriate templates for tracking, investigating, and reporting on Sensitive Complaints.
