What Young Peacebuilders (YP) Does

Young Peacebuilders (YP) nurtures peacebuilding passion and skills in children and youth. We do this through partnerships, research, projects, and tools that help young people build peace in their own communities and abroad. In this way YP helps prevent and end cycles of violence. Our goal is to see a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary conflicts toward investing in young people as peacebuilders. More at YoungPeacebuilders.com.

Description

The successful candidate will be passionate about YP’s mission and take leadership in improving our engagement with thousands of contacts in our database. Top priorities include recommending a contact management system, confirming or updating contact information of all our contacts, improving our physical mailing list for a few hundred potential donors in the USA, and suggesting activities that create lifetime donors and supporters. The successful candidate will collaborate with YP’s Communications Director and other team members to achieve their objectives.

Responsibilities

Improve YP’s Relationships with our Advocates, Volunteers, Users, and Donors

  • Assess our current contact management systems, the pros and cons of other options available, and then recommend the best path forward.
  • Confirm or update contact information for each of our contacts. This will include accessing MailChimp and other records of financial and in-kind donors, their giving histories, and other personal information.
  • Provide leadership of the organization and administration of the YP donor and mailing list for all contacts. Including but not limited to: maintaining donor records, updating donor information by email, street address, and phone; supporting outreach campaigns; and generating acknowledgement letters, while providing general operational and administrative support.
  • Assist with outreach and retention campaigns, from conceptualization through to analysis. This includes idea generation, identification of donor segments to be targeted for campaigns, preparing materials for distribution through email and print mailings, and overseeing execution.
  • Prepare monthly development reports and other reports as needed to include mailing lists and all donor segmentation lists.
  • Perform additional relevant tasks when needed.
  • Develop list segments for YPC Members in different areas of the world who are seeking updates on regional funding opportunities.

Promote the Organization

  • Coordinate with the Communications team to support implementation of our communication plan to promote the organization to its donors, maximize public awareness of giving opportunities, and promote the YPC Membership and training program.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Availability to commit to the required hours for 6 months;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, handling multiple tasks with varying priorities;
  • Fluent in English both written and oral. Any other languages, are considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Analytical, and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to deal with donors and supporters coming from diverse cultural backgrounds in the appropriate manner;
  • Interest in working in an international, multicultural environment;
  • Passionate about YP’s mission with the ability to collaboratively discern priority; objectives amidst shifting challenges and opportunities;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
