Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the overall implementation of the “*Increased entrepreneurship and access to finance to develop agriculture value-chains*” and aspects of market linkages components ensuring their integration with the other components of the programme
  2. Finalize the recruitment of at least 10 start-ups (Ideation) to benefit from the programme’s entrepreneurial and business development package
  3. Design and build capacity in business skills in areas such as financial management, marketing, sales, human resources, and networking for at least 30 agro-businesses.
  4. Develop and implement sustainable business model(s) with a prime focus of exploring additional access to finance or investment opportunities for at least 20 start-ups (ideation) and 10 existing agro-businesses (Accelerators).
  5. Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching and mentoring package for 20 start-ups (ideation) and 10 existing agro-businesses (Accelerators).
  6. Developed appropriate tools to monitor and track progress and performance of 20 start-ups (ideation) and 10 existing agro-businesses (Accelerators).
  7. Identify an incubator facility within the West Africa sub-region for a short-term incubator training or experience sharing opportunity for at least 10 agro-businesses.
  8. In collaboration with the MEAL Coordinator, undertake mini-surveys to measure programme indicators such as employment, increase in employees’ satisfaction and increase in business knowledge.
  9. Undertake post-intervention business capacity audit to assess the growth rates of at least 20 start-ups (ideation) and 10 existing agro-businesses (Accelerators)
  10. Ensure that consultants produce high-quality work timely
  11. Performs any other duties assigned by the Head of Project

Education

Advanced university degree (Masters preferred) in agribusiness development, business administration and management, finance, or related discipline from an accredited academic institution

Professional Experience

  1. A minimum of 5 years work experience in business development and management, business coaching, business consulting, and value chain development
  2. Ability to produce high quality programme reports
  3. Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of basic methodologies for conducting market analysis and assessing the viability of small and medium-sized businesses.
  5. Demonstrated capacity and ability to the analyses value chain.
  6. Knowledge of livelihood and/or food security programming.
  7. Outstanding skills in conducting training needs analysis, and delivering capacity building.
