Restless Development is recruiting a Senior Communications Manager to lead our global communications as we implement a new global strategy that seeks to bring youth power to the heart of everything we do.

This is not your typical communications role. This is an opportunity for someone with experience in global communications to shape how Restless Development can shift power to young leaders through our different communications strategies and platforms.

This exciting role will oversee all of the agency’s global communications and manage a team of communication leads. The Senior Communications Manager is a key leadership role in the External Engagement Team that delivers global research, campaigns and advocacy to have an impact with diverse external audiences.

About You.

Essential skills and experience

  • Demonstrable experience of communications leadership: setting vision and direction as well as planning and delivering ambitious communications work.
  • Highly creative and innovative, with bold communication ideas.
  • Excellent writing abilities that can be tailored to reach external audiences.
  • Experience managing a global and diverse team.
  • Demonstrable track record of placing stories in different global media outlets.
  • Strong existing global networks and relationships with media.
  • Experience of driving online engagement, developing content, and a test and learn approach to digital growth and engagement.
  • Experience of brand stewardship for a global organisation
  • Proven experience managing crisis comms for an organisation.
  • Experience of overseeing broader communications functions such as PR and ambassador marketing.
  • Strong ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Experience of project managing external consultants
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Desirable skills & experience

  • Strong understanding of youth-led and community development.
  • Experience and / or strong understanding of youth-led and co-created communications that are designed to shift power.
  • Some previous fundraising experience.
  • Fluency in another language is an advantage.
