Grants Manager

Reporting to the Director Finance and Operations, the Grants Manager, will work closely with the finance and development teams to support the grants portfolios throughout the entire lifecycle.

Responsibilities

· The incumbent will work as an integral part of the larger Lwala finance team. Responsibilities include compliance and financial monitoring and reporting on the various grants.

· The Grants Manager will also play a key role in developing materials and facilitating training aimed at building the capacity of program staff in the area of compliance with grants and subaward terms and conditions.

· Grants Manager will work closely with the Director Finance and Operations and the development team to set up their grant codes and ensure that the running grants are mapped to the overall organizational budget taking note of the restricted, time restricted and unrestricted grants.

· Ensure that the grant funds are spent and allocated on a monthly basis in the financial management system and quarterly reports on actual expenditures by grant are shared and reviewed by the Director Finance and Operations.

· Keep track of all grants reporting timelines, templates and reporting requirements and ensure donor financial reports are prepared in a timely manner.

· Lead the process of establishing- the Temporary restricted net assets from the multi year running grants.

· Ensure that funds acknowledgments for Kenya based grants are sent out as per stipulated policies.

· Support the evaluation of grant applications, proposals, and awards to ensure adherence to grants management procedures including drafting of project budgets.

· Lead specific grant audits as may be stipulated in the grants agreements.

· Review grants and subaward expenditures and other financial analysis on a monthly/ quarterly basis as required.

· Assist the Direct of Finance and Operations with financial inquiries and preparation for annual audit review.

· Support the finance manager in general financial administration and compliance and management and ensure timely financial reports are shared within the required timelines.

· Any other duties may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications

· At least five years’ experience working in a grants/contracts, or finance department.

· Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Finance or any related field. A Certified Public Accountant and a member of ICPAK will be desirable.

· Knowledge of typical grant award/contractual documents such as grant agreements, subcontracts, modifications

· Experience with non-profit organizations as well as a multi-office, multi-regional environment

· Experience with financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development and forecasting

· Proficiency in the use of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets, including MS Office

· Team player with a positive attitude and ability to build strong working relationships.

· Ability to focus on technical work and ability to work on simultaneous projects

· Attention to details, and excellent time management
