Consultant: English language Copy-Editor for Disrupting Harm At ECPAT International


ECPAT International is a global network of civil society organizations working in 104 countries in all regions for the elimination of the sexual exploitation of children. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free and secure from all forms of sexual exploitation.

The ECPAT Secretariat is based in Bangkok, Thailand and coordinates the global work. The Secretariat implements global level programmes, and undertakes programming, campaigning, advocacy and research to facilitate a range of network initiatives.

Project Background

ECPAT is currently implementing a global-level research project Disrupting Harm: evidence to understand online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA), a collaborative project along with INTERPOL and UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti supported by the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, through its Safe Online initiative. The project is assessing the scale, nature and context of the abovementioned issue in 13 countries across Southern and Eastern Africa and Southeast Asia. The project commenced early 2019 and will end half 2022. Data has been collected and the project is currently in the report writing stage.

The project will produce the following outputs:

· 13 country reports

· 2 regional reports

· 1 Survivors’ Engagement report

ECPAT is seeking an English language Copy-Editor for 10 out of these 16 reports with on average 80 pages per report, thus in total approximately 800 pages.

Key Deliverables

The Copy-Editor will edit Disrupting Harm reports in line with the ECPAT Style Guide, additional guidelines and consistency notes.

Profile

*Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in English or related field

· Demonstrated experience in copy-editing (preferably 2+ years)

Competencies

· Excellent time management and an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Timeframe

It is expected that the consultancy will take place from February 2022 until July 2022. A detailed work plan will be shared at the beginning of the consultancy and might be subject to small changes.

Additional Information

· The Consultant is expected to be home-based, using own computer and communication equipment and facilities; consultant should accommodate regular communication with Bangkok office hours.

· Payment will be based on pages (250 words per page).

· The Consultant is expected to act at all times in a manner consistent with the values of ECPAT International and in compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures including Child Safeguarding Policy and the Code of Conduct
